Dates: Wednesdays, September 23 - October 21, 2026
from 6-9p each week
Location: Living Arts Center (Studio A)
Tommy Noonan with Rhodes Holt.
This 5-week course will teach the basic tools of Inner Relationship Focusing: a mode of self-inquiry that develops the capacities of presence and transformation through spending time with our ever-unfolding internal world. Specifically for male-identified people who often lack spaces for such internal exploration in community, this 5-week class is designed to foster a deeper and greater understanding of all that can be unearthed by spending time within the complexity of the body and the felt sense. Participants will leave with a new set of tools that can help with relationships, creativity and greater sense of fulfillment and meaning.
You can learn more about the many benefits of Focusing here. Each week participants will learn new Focusing skills and will practice with a partner in the class. Outside of class requirements include a weekly partnering session with someone in the class (in person or over zoom) and some reading from the manual. Classes will also involve some movement, which will be accessible to all bodies and abilities. This class is open to anyone who has a relationship to a male identity for themselves, whether currently or historically. This includes people who are cisgender, trans, gender-nonconforming, AMAB, or socialized as male.Participants should plan to attend all five classes if possible (and missing no more than one). No drop-ins.
Cost: Sliding scale from $200-$400 for the series + $20 for the manual. Please select the rate that works best for you.
The lower end of the scale is for those who have difficulty meeting the full rate and/or are part of historically marginalized groups with less access to resources. The middle range represents the "full cost" of the workshop. The upper range is for those who have the resources to help subsidize and create access for those who can pay at the lower range.Cost should not be a barrier. If you need a scholarship or payment plan, email tommy@culturemill.org to discuss and coordinate. This will need to happen before the class begins, and you'll need to have paid the full agreed rate by the time the class is over. For those who have already taken a Level One class and want to take this for a refresher, the cost is reduced by 25%. Email booking@livingartscollective.com for the discount code.
Pre-requisites: An individual Guided Focusing Session. If you have already done a Guided Focusing Session at some point with Tommy or someone else, then you’re all set. If you have never done a Guided Focusing Session then you’ll need to set one up with Tommy before the class begins (cost is included in the class fee). The reason is because experiencing a Guided Focusing Session helps give people a sense of where the class is headed and is an important part of learning how to Focus with a partner.
Masking Policy: This class is in-person and indoors. The hope is that we can all be unmasked. The reason is that facial expressions are an important part of connecting through Focusing. If this presents a difficulty for you, please contact tommy (tommy@culturemill.org) to discuss how we can accommodate your needs.
